Kris and Cory Albert

Kris and Cory Albert

Cory is a fifth generation cabinet maker and carpenter. He grew up immersed in various aspects of woodworking with his father, a full time cabinet maker. Cory worked for 20 years as a carpenter and general contractor. He built custom homes, fine furniture, and cabinets. He specializes in compound arched windows, curved staircases, and cathedral arched ceilings. Cory loves a challenge and figuring out degrees and angles for new projects. Although he has extensive experience with all kinds of woodworking equipment, he especially loves the lathe and the unlimited potential for creating unique pieces. Although Cory has earned two degrees, one in computer technology and one in advanced transportation (which means he knows how to operate a train), he always comes back to his first love of woodworking.

Kris grew up with a love for animals and nature. She chose a career of being a professional farrier (horseshoer). Working outside with horses, was a dream come true. Kris learned how to work hot steel and enjoyed that medium. After 20 years of shoeing and raising a family of four, it was time to hang up her chaps. Kris has always had a fascination for woodworking, but it wasn’t until she met Cory, that she had the perfect teacher. Kris loves the scroll saw and enjoys the challenge of intricate patterns. She loves learning and studies the latest techniques in current magazines. The amazing transformation of a piece of flat wood turning into a useful and beautiful creation that makes people smile is the most rewarding feeling for Kris.

Cory and Kris grew up five miles from each other where their parents still reside, but didn’t know it until they met some forty years later. Cory and Kris have been lucky enough to find a shared love of woodworking and spend many enjoyable hours together.
